Extraordinal, Chinese 14th Century Ming Dynasty Period, blue and white wrapped floral moon vase. The finest porcelain with tall ovoid body, thick, with bulbous lower region, large moon vase, sweeping up into a slender neckline and straight slightly flaring mouth rim, raised with slight small round foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. Blue and white porcelain in Chinese it is called Qing Hua Ci. It is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. It was originated in the Ming Dynasty. Its color does not easily fade and durability is longer. It used cobaltous oxide as the colorant. Patterns were directly painted onto the inner body and burnt after glaze was applied on it. All the body adorned with abundant big lotus flowers blooms interspersed with fresh foliage and scrolling interlocking tendril. Each section the main body, the neck and the upper mouth rim decorated with double fine blue rings. Lotus is one of the most significant flowers in the Chinese culture. It symbolizes the holy seat of Buddha. Because the flower rises from the mud and blooms in exquisite beauty it symbolizes perfection and purity of both the heart and mind. It also represents long life and honor. The lotus flower is depicted in Chinese art, poetry and?architecture. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, and the carving. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well carved, clear, subtle, distinct, and the shape is uniformly proportioned.
