Chinese Qing Dynasty Kangxi Period, Pair Blue and White dragon porcelain bowl. Delicately potted with slightly rounded sides rising from footed base toward flat opening, of a simply deep and wide vessel, straight opening, curved side, raised on slight foot base rim. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. The main body decorated with five claws huge imperial dragon soaring amidst flames and vapors, with face and upper right appendage outstretched toward the heavens. Vigorous dragons chasing flaming pearl with Chinese calligraphy ornament amidst flames against cobalt blue scrolling clouds diaper above thrashing Li-Shui water waves. The backdrop depicts swirling wind and fire painted atop a beautiful white underglaze. Enclosed with double fine blue rings lines on the upper mouth rim and on the foot base rim. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The Inner bowl decorated with same hand painting on the exterior, double fine blue ring lines adorned on the inner mouth rim and on the outer center medallion. There is not any overlap of the outlines, its well carved, clear, subtle, and distinct. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
Mark on under base, a six underglaze script characters reign mark, enclosed with double fine blue ring lines, Kangxi Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
