A Japanese lacquer Kodansu, Meiji period, of rectangular form with engraved metal mounts, with relief lacquer decoration throughout, the top, back, sides and front drawer with gilt blossoming plum branches, the dorrs with recessed panels of cranes amongst blossoming branches, the reverse of the doors decorated with cranes above the Takaramono to include Daikoku's mallet, ingots, scrolls, Hotei's sack of treasures, a fly whisk and a fan, with eight short drawers, 47cm wide, 46.5cm high, 30cm deep.Condition report: Structurally sound but with small losses and gilt rubbing throughout. The front and right side bases with the most gilt rubbing. Both door panel with top to bottom fine splits. Scuff marks to the exterior edges. Interior of the doors showing cracks in the lacquer to the shape of the exterior panel, and lacquer losses around the edges.. The interior of the right door has raised lacquer losses along the bottom.
