L:7.2cm W:5.2cm H:3.6cm AN INSCRIBED 'LUMUGE' PEBBLE Late Ming / Qing dynasty The attractive caramel stone retaining its natural shape, boldly carved with a bat amidst swirling clouds, inscribed with the seals 'Wen' and 'Peng', possibly apocryphal and incised in 'kaishu' with the four-character expression 'zitian jiangfu'. Provenance??: Hugh M. Moss Ltd., 29 September 1989 Wen Peng (1498-1573), a famous seal carver, was the eldest son of the artist Wen Zhengming. The four-character inscription 'Zitian Jiangfu' means 'Happiness comes naturally from the sky'.
