About the artists: Basov Yakov Alexandrovich (1923-2004) - Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. He studied at the studio of N. Samokish in Simferopol (1922-1930) and at the Institute. I. Repin in Leningrad (1932-1937). He lived in Leningrad (1938-1940) and in the Crimea (from 1946). He worked mainly in the field of landscape, in particular watercolor. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1978). People's Artist of Ukraine. The artist's works are kept in museums in Ukraine and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Japan and the United States. Y. Basov is considered the best marine painter of Ukraine during the Soviet period.
