About the artist: Born on September 28 (October 10?), 1878 (1877?), In the village of Lozovataya (now Lipovetsky district, Vinnytsia region. Father M. Buryachka. He studied at the Kiev drawing school N. Murashko, at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts (1896-1903). Theater artist, painter, graphic artist. He worked in the field of easel and theater painting, book and satirical graphics. He founded the magazine: "Hornet", together with F. Krasitsky, A. Slastion, V. Reznichenko (1906). Founder of the professions of Ukrainian theater sets Together with V. Krichevsky, he worked in the Sadovsky Theater: artist (1908-1918), chief artist (1912); at the People's House Theater in Vinnitsa: artist (1919-1922); Kiev Ukrainian Drama Theater named after M. Zankovetskaya (1922-1923 ); as a cartoonist in the newspaper: “The Soviet Village” (1923-1926), “Peasant newspaper” (1926-1930). The main works - painting: “Portrait of N. Lysenko” (1910), “Self-portrait”, “Wade across the river” , “Steppe”, “Ripen rye” (beginning of the 20th century); illustrations for books: “Aeneid” by Kotlyarevsky, fables of L. Glebov, fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm; cartoons: “From Moldavian to Finnish ...”, “Free America”, “Under the modern regime”; designed the performances: “Savva Chaly” by I. Karpenko-Kary (1906), “Natalka Poltavka” (1912), “Drowned Woman” (1913) M. Lysenko, The Stone Ruler of Lesia Ukrainka (1914), The Robber Karmelyuk by M. Staritsky-Chernyakhovskaya, The Gaydamaki by T. Shevchenko, The Robbers by F. Schiller. He lived and worked in Kiev, died on October 24, 1936. He died on September 24, 1936.
