Description American, late 19th century. Inlaid mahogany Centennial breakfront bookcase or china cabinet, in the Federal, Hepplewhite taste having a shaped cornice with brass spherical finials flanking a carved wooden eagle, four astragal glazed doors,the lower case with three central drawers flanked by two drawers and doors, eagle patterned brass hardware, decorated with bellflowers, and rising on tapered legs. Unmarked. Approx. overall, h. 94.75", w. 64.5", d. 25.25".
Condition Report Eagle may not be contemporary with the piece; minor loss of moulding to cornice; some veneer loss to sides; one upper does not stay close without being locked; one glass panel cracked; fading and wear commensurate with age and use.
