Bronze India, 12th century Nalanda Style revival Dimensions: Height: 10 cm by 8 cm Weight: 338 grams Buddha seated in dhyanasana on a hexagonal base on a four-footed square throne with ornaments. The Buddha's right hand is resting on the knee with finger tips touching the ground, while the other hand is placed in the lap with palm facing the sky, bhumispharsa mudra or the subduing of demon Mara. He is leaning against a backrest decorated with two uprearing animals on the side, on top of the backrest are the remnants of an aureole, now partly missing. The Buddha is dressed in a simple robe thrown over his left shoulder exposing his right chest and arm. The Buddha's expression is calm in deep meditation but with a smile, a raised urna is on the center of the forehead.
