Bronze fire-gilt Tibet, 15th century Dimensions: Height 12,5 cm Weight: 357 grams Seated Buddha on double reverse lotus base with beaded rims. The Buddha is seated with legs crossed, touching the earth with his right hand while the other is resting in the lap with palm upwards, bhumispharsa mudra or calling the earth to witness. The Buddha is dressed in a simple robe draped over his left shoulder and fanning out underneath his ankles. The face is round with small features, elongated earlobes and a hairline separates the black curls from the forehead. A bud finial tops the ushnisha. The back of the bronze is kept simple with little detail.
