Bronze Tibet, Pala Style revival, 18th century Dimensions: Height 31 cm by 16 cm Weight: 2826 grams Green Tara seated on a double reverse lotus throne with beaded rim, her right foot pendent on a smaller lotus flower stemming from the base. The legs are covered in a pleated dhoti fastened around her waist with an ornamental band. Her chest and arms are adorned with intricate jewellery highlighted with stone inlay. Her right hand is lifted in front of her showing abhaya mudra. Her left hand is resting on her leg, holding the stem of a large lotus flower. Her round face has a gentle expression with downcast eyes, the third eye in the center of the forehead. Elongated earlobes with big circular earrings frame the face. Her hair is done up in a bun decorated with head jewellery. The Green Tara is known as the Goddess of Compassion and is the most popular Tara in Tibet.
