Bronze gilt Tibet or Nepal, 15th century Dimensions: Height 19 cm Weight: 1450 grams A seated Buddha in dhyanasana on a double reverse lotus throne with beaded rim, the bottom lotus petals are longer than the upper ones. The Buddha is gesturing the bhumispharsa mudra, calling the earth to witness. He is dressed in a long robe with double beaded brim draped over the left shoulder, the end fanning out decoratively underneath his ankles. The body is slender, the face oval with downcast eyes and gently smiling lips. Thin wavy eyebrows stem from the nasal root. The head with the tiny, black curls is decorated with an elegant tiara with ribbons flowing on the side. The ushnisha is topped by a diamond jewel finial.
