Bronze China, Qianlog ( 1711-1799) Dimensions: Height 40 cm Weight: 10.994 grams This Chinese Bodhisattva from the Qing Dynasty has eight arms, each forming a different mudra and four faces. The deity is seated in lotus position on a lotus base with beaded rims and a panel in the center with seven Chinese characters referring to the date Qianlong Period in Qing Dynasty. The lower body is dressed in a long wavy garment, a flowy scarf covers the shoulders. The arms are adorned with armlets and bracelets, the chest bears numerous necklaces. The faces have downcast eyes and a solemn and welcoming expression, a third eye on the forehead. Large circular ear pendants with flowers hang form the elongated earlobes. A five-pointed tiara with diamond bud finial decorates the head. Provenance: Lesli Hindman 2006
