Bronze China, Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) Dimensions: Height 8 cm Diameter 11 cm Weight; 545 grams This censer resembles the gui-vessels from the Shang (18 - 12 ct BC) and Zhou (111 - 255 BC) periods, with a wide mouth, a ring base and a bowl-shaped body. The base and body are decorated with Taotie-patterns, two handles on the side. The gui formerly served as a food container but was later used as funerary utensil.
