Bronze Nepal, 19th century Dimensions: Height 28 cm by 15 cm Weight: 2.365 grams A standing Padmapani on a double-reverse lotus base with beaded rim and flat backside. The Bodhisattva of Compassion can be translated as "the lotus holder" and is like here depicted with lotus flowers. Padmapani is wearing a beautiful dhoti with beaded garlands attached at her hip with an ornate waistband. Her right arm is lowered to her side with the palm facing the front, varada mudra the gesture of generosity. The other hand is lifted in front of the chest holding the stem of a lotus. The upper body is also adorned with jewellery. The head is slightly tilted to the left and adorned with an intricate headdress. The expression is friendly.
