Bronze with traces of gilding Ceylon, 12th century or earlier Dimensions: Height 16,5 cm Weight: 341 grams Buddha standing on a circular base of larger and smaller lotus petals with rim. Both hands are raised, the right hand flat with fingers pointing to the sky, the left hand is drawn to a fist. A simple pattern-less robe draped over the left shoulder exposing the right shoulder, the edge of the robe dangling on the Buddha's left side. The Buddhist god has a broad neck and round face, the eyes are closed as if in meditation. Elongated earlobes frame the face. The curls on the head are almost rubbed off, a diamond jewel as the ushnisha. The bronze has a heavy patina.
