A French mahogany, marquetry and gilt metal mounted commode, 20th century, with shaped alabaster top and decorated with silvered metal mounts throughout, the marquetry figural scenes framed by foliate cast mounts, bearing a stamp beneath the marble 'LANDRIN', 90cm high, 108cm wide, 76cm deep

Please note: It seems most likely that this piece is a later copy of an earlier piece or the piece has been significantly restored and significant amounts of timber replaced . The stamp therefore would not be genuine. The piece should be purchased as a decorative and useful item of furniture only.
Marks, scratches and abrasions throughout commensurate with age and use. various repairs.
old chips and splits. some losses. There are little or no signs of worm damage.
The piece has been significantly cleaned and restored overall the interior and exterior. Surfaces are likely to have been sanded leaving virtually no signs of age in most areas. The veneers are extremely thin. There is later varnish throughout.
Various small areas of grey coloured filler to the alabaster top to disguise loss within the natural faults of the material where losses have occurred.
Some small mount elements are lacking including various areas of the very slender mounts that run around the base of the frieze.
The mounts appear to be silvered throughout onto a brass base metal.
