Pierre-Jules Mêne, (French 1810 - 1879), Chien gardant du gibier, a patinated bronze group of a pointer with game, the dog portrayed seated on its haunches beside a tree trunk, with a hare, a pheasant, a game bag, a whip and a powder horn slung from a broken branch; the naturalistically cast integral oval base inscribed P.J.MENE 1850 in the maquette, 30cm high, 35cm wide
