, last quarter 19th century, the rectangular section body with floral inlaid and chequer strung borders, and mounted with two cut glass ink bottles and a central raised box, with maker's label for Boyce, Brown & Kemp to the underside, 14cm high, 31cm wide
Condition Report:
The stand bears the usual minor marks, knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use.
There are tiny losses to the inlay overall, where small sections of wood mosaic are missing, particularly to the corners of the desk stand and to the chequer banding to the rear. This does not detract so much from the overall appearance of the inlay which looks quite intact. The top is a little lightened and faded, with some marks by the recessed pen holder. The ebonised section of the banding has some old fine cracks which appear to be shallow, and in one or two cases may be restored.
The raised lift-off cover has old splits, marks and repairs to each side.
One of the ink bottles has a cover with a broken hinge. The other hinge also has splits and is a little bent.
Old split to underside, though it's quite thin and entirely stable.
