The street vendor carrying heavy baskets full of bundles of twigs, sweet potatoes and lotus roots attached to a pole, an expression of pure exhaustion on his face, the bent pole also indicating that his load is too heavy to bear, as he supports it on a tree trunk. A sagemono set including a pipe case, tobacco pouch and nasubi netsuke is tied to his obi. Signed KOGYOKU within a red-lacquer cartouche.
