Signed Japan, 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)
Depicting the sambiki-saru, more commonly referred to as the three wise monkeys. Two monkeys at the top are covering their ears and eyes and one tiny monkey is seated inside an opening covering his mouth. Signed to a plug underneath.

Condition: Excellent condition, with natural ‘flaws’ to the material. Provenance: British collection.
