The first and second, Thai, Rattanakosin period, the first depicting a seated Buddha in bhumisparsha mudra, on a stepped pedestal; the second depicting a seated crowned Buddha on a platform with elephant and monkey presenting offerings; the third depicting a standing Burmese monk bearing a fan and walking stick, on a pierced elephant pedestal. Property from a Private Philadelphia Collection, the first two acquired from Michael Backman Limited, London, the first March 6, 2012, the second September 3, 2009; the third acquired in Rangoon, 2009.
Condition Report Seated Buddha with scattered rubbing and loss to gilding, particularly to shoulder, legs, and face, scattered chips to lacquer at back, parasol lost; other Buddha with scattered rubbing to gilding, scattered losses to lacquer at extremities, otherwise generally good condition; monk with scattered light surface soiling, walking stick slightly loose, scattered rubbing to surfaces, small pinholes to back and back of base, scattered light verdigris, two small casting holes to edge of scarf over chest.
