Description Signed cabinet card of Henry Irving in costume as Shylock. It comes with a Jan. 2, 1891 ALS on Lyceum letterhead from Irving. Sir Henry Irving (British, 1838-1905), a Victorian stage actor-manager at London's West End Lyceum Theatre. He was knighted in 1895, becoming the first actor to be awarded that honor. He was also widely accepted as a major inspiration for Count Dracula, whose author, Bram Stoker, was the Lyceums business manager. Dimensions are: letter, 8 inches X 5 inches; 20.3 cm X 12.7 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition Report Both signatures are strong and clear, with slight smudging to cabinet card signature. Both pieces show aging and toning. Small tear to bottom of letter.
