Description Inscribed: To Walter D. Coles, with kind regards of Herbert Hoover. Walter D. Coles served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri from 1894-98. He was a lecturer in the Washington University St. Louis School of Law from 1904-10, once in the area of bankruptcy and once in constitutional law. Coles also served for more than 30 years on the board of directors of the Law Library Association of St. Louis. In 1935, he began his first year on the bench as a judge on the Supreme Court of Missouri. Dimensions are: Sight, 12 inches X 9 inches; 30.5 cm X 22.9 cm.
