Bronze gilded Buddha statue of Sakyamuni in Ming Dynasty .The front of the Buddha statue is engraved with the words "Da Ming Xuan de Nian Shi".Buddha Sakyamuni is revered as the founder of the world religion of Buddhism, and worshipped by most Buddhist schools as the Enlightened One who has transcended Karma and escaped the cycle of birth and rebirth. In this budda statue, Sakyemuni sits in "Calling The Earth to Witness" posture on a double lotus throne with a dignified face. Its nose and eyebrows are connected with lines, the eyelids hang low. Its expression is quiet and soft, with a slight smile on it.
PROVENANCE:
From The Collection of David Garrison (July 18, 1948-) Morehead City, NC. He joined the Air Force in July 1968. He did his basic training in San Antonio, Texas, and then went to technical school at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois. In 1971, he married the love of his life, Patty Madsen. The family traveled with him as he fulfilled his duties with the Air Force. In 1984, they moved to Bethany beach,?Deleware where he resided for the rest of his life. David obtained an Associate's Degree through the Community College of the Air Force. During his career in the Air Force, he achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He retired from the Air Force in 1993 after 26 years of service. Not one to slow down, he started a new career as a contractor at FAA, then Tinker Air Force Base. His final retirement was in January of 2016.
