Provenance: Property from the collection of Dr. Paul Ganz, art historian and a Fuseli authority, gifted to his brother Dr. Rudolph Ganz and thence by descent. Note: The work was a demonstration piece when Fuseli was Professor at the Royal Academy. A copy of the 1950 Arts Council's Exhibition of Paintings and Drawings by Fuseli, dedicated to his brother Rudolph in pen by Dr. Ganz, accompanies the lot.
