About the artist: Ukrainian painter.
Born on October 9, 1918 in with. Petrovka Voroshilovograd (now Lugansk) region.
After studying at a seven-year school, he entered the Lugansk Art College.
After graduation, he continued his studies at the Kiev Art Institute. His teachers were: A. Shovkunenko, I. Shtilman, M. Sharonov, M. Ivanov. The war prevented graduation.
From the beginning of the Finnish armed conflict, Latunov volunteered to go to the front in the Red Army. He went through the entire Great Patriotic War as a machine gunner and met the Victory in Czechoslovakia. Marked with military awards.
After demobilization, he returned to college and graduated in 1947 with honors.
In the same year he joined the Union of Artists of the USSR.
In 1947, G.A. Latunov made his debut at the All-Union Art Exhibition, opened on November 5 in Moscow, at the State Tretyakov Gallery and on November 6 at the State Museum of Fine Arts. A.S. Pushkin.
Since that time - a regular participant in republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions.
He worked in the field of easel painting. Master of landscape, portrait and still life.
In addition to creativity, he was engaged in pedagogical and social activities: he directed the art studio in the city of Dneprodzerzhinsk, and headed the Dnepropetrovsk Art Council.
In 2013, a memorial exhibition was held at the Museum of the History of Dneprodzerzhinsk - "Grigory Latunov - an exhibition of barv and postal services".
