Description RAM DARBAR - RAMA HOLDING COURT WITH ENTOURAGE. South India, prob. Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka. 18th/19th c. Copper bronze with dark patina. Figures and mandorla cast separately. In the center sits Rama, an incarnation of Vishnu with his companion Sita on his lap. He is accompanied by his half-brother Lakshmana and a female deity with lotus blossom. Possibly one or both side figures are added. The mandorla (prabhavali) with Makara, the face of Kiritimukha and the heads of the Naga over the main figure. 4520g. H.25.7cm, w.18.8cm, d.12.5cm.
