Skinsnes (1917-1997).Footnote: Dr. Skinsnes was born in China, the son of medical missionaries originally from Norway. He was educated at Kikungshan American School, Honan, China; St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota and University of Chicago School of Medicine. Dr. Skinsnes founded the leprosy lab at Leahi Hospital and was also professor of pathology at the University of Hawaii. Always considering China his home, after his retirement, he returned to China and served as an honorary faculty member at Zhongshan Medical College in Guangzhou. Dr. Skinsnes is credited with introducing the first leprosy treatments in China.
