Description AN ENGLISH ORMOLU MOUNTED AND MARQUETRY INLAID MAHOGANY BONHEUR DU JOUR, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, in the Louis XVI taste with a "D" form reticulated gallery of continuous stylized hearts above a conforming paneled frieze centering ribbon tied berried laurel branch mounts, over paired doors centering fruitwood blossoming stems and scrolling foliage within kingwood panels inlaid à quatre faces surrounded by tulipwood borders, each with a curling acanthus cast escutcheon and opening to a tulipwood lined single shelf interior, within exterior open single shelf side compartments enclosing a drapery swag and tassel modeled bronze and flanked by bow ribbon tied leafy floral pendants, above a rectangular top with matching woods and boxwood string inlay enclosed by gadrooned bronze trim, over three similarly inlaid drawers centering undulating foliate scroll detailed escutcheons within vine entwined cabochon cast encadrements, flanked by oval bow ribbon tied convex shields above vasiform carved capitals with gilt bronze ribbon tied laurel leaf swags, on tapering circular reeded legs ending in acanthus modeled collars and similarly detailed toupie feet joined by a serpentine "X" form stretcher centering a two handled bronze urn finial, includes one key. Height: 48 3/8" Width: 37" Depth: 17 3/4" Condition Report Good condition with some expected surface buildup and wear on gilt bronze mounts, light marks, and small scratches around feet, dings, fading and the wood could use a good hand wax polishing.??
