He painted portraits, genre paintings , landscapes , historical genre , still lifes , political posters , illustrated magazines and books . He made a great contribution to the development of the Ukrainian national fine arts and carried the most important task of educating the young generation of Ukrainian artists [4] . For many years of fruitful work and for his great contribution to the development of the Ukrainian Soviet fine arts, Ivan Nikolaevich Shulga in 1946 was awarded the honorary title - Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR .
