Description Christian Thirion has always been captivated by glass. As a boy in his native France, he would spend family holidays in Venice, Barcelona and Spain. He marveled at the sight of glassblowers gathering and shaping hotmolten glass. Raised by a family of bakers, he ultimately became a Master pastry chef. Thirion worked primarily with chocolate which he explains, "starts as a liquid and is sculpted at specific temperatures before itbecomes hard. Working with glass is a similar process." Thirion?s mastery of pastry brought him to the United States in 1979. He spent time sharing his pastry expertise with students and culinary enthusiasts and soonopened restaurants in California. In the early 1980?s he began his career in stained glass and in 1987 he took his first glassblowing class at a local community college. Shortly after this , he sensed hehad found his calling and gave up one oven (baking) for another (glassblowing). Thirion has won several awards including the 1996 Niche Award for glass, an industry honor. He has expressed a dream of one day owning his Condition Report All lots are sold as is and where is.
