Of cylindrical form with square projections on four corners, each corner carved with two different registers of stylized masks, one comprising twin bands of narrow parallel grooves above incised circular 'eyes' and a short raised band with rounded ends for the 'nose', and the other with larger eyes and without the parallel bands.Provenance: Myrna Myers, Paris, 1987, by repute. English private collection in Bournemouth, acquired from the above and thence by descent in the same family. When Sam Myers was sent to Paris by his law firm in the mid-1960s, he and his wife Myrna became so enamored with the city that they decided to make it their home.
