Description 20th-17th century BC. A deep-cut grey jasper cylinder seal with frieze of the sun-god Shamash, in long robe falling in creases and open at the front where one leg projects, holding up his saa-weapon, facing worshipper in long flounced robe with sceptre and third partial figure, column of cuneiform text; accompanied by a museum-quality impression. 8.25 grams, 23mm (1"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number 2924; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
