About the artist: Soviet Ukrainian painter. People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR.
Mikhail Gavrilovich Belsky was born on November 21, 1922 in the village of Zakromskoye, Oryol Region, Russia.
From 1937 to 1941 he studied at the Lugansk Art School.
Member of the Great Patriotic War. He was awarded two Orders of the Patriotic War and medals.
From 1945 to 1951, Mikhail Belsky studied at the portrait workshop at the Kiev Art Institute. Teachers in the specialty: K. Eleva, I. Shtilman, V. Kostetsky, S. Grigoriev.
Since 1951 - participant of republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions.
Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR.
He worked in the field of easel painting. The main theme in the artist's work is the theme of peaceful labor.
In 1968 M.G. Belsky made a creative trip to the mines of Donbass, where he made 39 canvases and graphic sheets. All these works were included in the exposition of his first solo exhibition, which brought the artist recognition.
Honored Art Worker of the Ukrainian SSR since 1970.
