A HARDWOOD OPIUM PIPE WITH JADEITE, IVORY AND ZITAN FITTINGS, LATE QING TO REPUBLIC China, late 19th to early 20th century. The dark and finely grained hardwood stem carved in relief with two confronting butterflies between a central flower, the jadeite mouthpiece of an even white tone, the ivory saddle carved as a hand grasping the zitan and ivory pipe bowl incised with four lines of characters.
Provenance: German private collection. Condition: Good condition with minor wear, few natural age cracks, light scratches, few minuscule nicks, traces of use.
