Description A VERY RARE 1878 PATTERN BRITISH FOREIGN SERVICE HELMET WITH COVER, the inside with maker's label 'Ellwood & Son, London' and 'For India', complete with its original pagri and top button, evidence of badge mounting holes behind pagri at front with chinstrap absent.
Condition Report Helmet shell and pagri intact with some staining. This early pattern, intended for India, of reinforced straw construction with no crushing often experienced with the cork variant. The rim band secure and complete with the detachable cover in very good order with all stitching intact.
