Three-character inscription on his left side. Affixed to a separate wooden pedestal. Presentation inscription on plaque "Presented to India House by Morley L. Cho". Cho was an influential member of the China Institute in New York during the Last Quarter of the 20th Century.

Condition Report Patina of belly considerably worn from years of being rubbed by the members upon entering the the club. Paint splatters and scratches.
Provenance This Buddha graced the entrance to India House and was an icon of good luck to the members, who would rub its belly upon entering and leaving the club.
