Description An Imperial Chinese iron red dragon cup with a six-character Guangxu mark and of the period. The cup features a pair of dragons chasing flaming pearls above waves. The cup is accompanied by a 4-lobed hardwood stand. Dimensions are: 2 inches tall X 2 1/4 inches wide; 5.1 cm tall X 5.7 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.

Condition Report A miniscule chip to the rim and a possible chip with overpainting to the foot.
Provenance From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s.
Notes A pair of similar Imperial iron-red dragon cups dating from the Guangxu period were sold at Christie's Hong Kong on October 3, 2018, as lot 66.
