Description A Chinese yellow-ground famille rose box with a 4-character mark of Guangxu and of the period. The top of the round box features a Shou character with a pair of bats surrounded by flowers. There is a gold meander border on a coral ground around the edges of its lid and base. The interior of the box is glazed white. Dimensions are: 4 1/2 inches tall X 7 3/4 inches wide, 11.4 cm X 19.7 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Condition Report It is in overall good condition with very minor wear and abrasions to the glaze.

Notes Reference: A similar yellow-ground Guangxu box in grisaille was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong on April 8, 2010, as lot 1952. A similar yellow-ground famille rose box can be found in the collection of the National Palace Museum in Beijing.
