Provenance From the estate of Mr. and Mrs. Hwang in Orange County, California. Mr. Hwang's father was an official in the Nationalist government in Taiwan, while his mother, Yao Xiuyu, was a student of Huang Junbi. She also studied painting and calligraphy with notable artists in Taiwan such as Lin Yushan and Chen Ruigen and was herself an accomplished artist.
