Steamship "Parisian" of the Allan Line Royal Mail Steamers at night with Moon and Lighthouse and other ships, Oil on Canvas on stretcher, framed. Height of art 15 inches (38 cm.) X width of art 20 inches (50.8 cm.). NOTE: The SS Parisian was about 50 miles south west of the Titanic between midnight and 2:20am on 15 April 1912 when it struck the iceberg and sank. The "Parisian's" Wireless Operator had earlier sent the "Titanic" and other ships in the area a radio message to watch for icebergs and went off duty for the night never noticing the S.O.S. from the Titanic. The Captain of the Parisian only heard about the great tragedy from the "Carpathia" in a confidential communication around 10am that morning. They docked in Halifax that morning with plenty of room for survivors. The Parisian had herself already In 1905 been in a collision with the Albano off of Halifax, Nova Scotia and sank. She was reclaimed from the bottom of Halifax Harbor and this painting may relate to the Chebueto Head Lighthouse at the time of the sinking. https://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/parisians-wireless-expert-off-duty-when-titanic-struck-berg.html
