PROVENANCE: From the Collections of Franklin Wood (1924-2019) Cartersville, GA. Franklin was born in a small farmhouse near White GA in 1924. After spending his early childhood on the family farm the family moved to the City of Cartersville where he attended school graduating in 1942. Franklin entered the Navy as a cadet aviator. On March 3, 1943, John was commissioned an Ensign and received his Wings of Gold, becoming one of the Navy's youngest naval aviators. In 1947, Franklin was retired from the Navy. He was a civilian flight instructor, supervisor and squadron commander in the Primary Training Squadron Flying Training Air Force. He met his wife Ying Su while she was attending flight training safety courses. Ying Su came from a prominent family in China. Her family blessed her marriage with numerous pieces of porcelains and Jade. The items in this sale are from her collection. Dimensions (cm): Height: 41 Length: 27 Width: 12Chinese Qing Dynasty Period Doucai Wrapped Floral Porcelain Moon Vase. Potted in compressed globular body, thick and tall, moon belly, sweeping up into a slender neckline and straight mouth rim, emerge two archaic ruyi handles flanked from neck to the shoulder rim, raised on short rectangle foot base with slight concave footing. The exterior hand painted in Doucai design, of Flowers blooms interspersed interlocking tendril, foliage and bordered with dense of floral diaper surrounding Bajixiang symbols. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. Mark on base, a six under glazed blue seal script characters reign mark, Made In The Years of Qianlong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
