Description 19th century French figural bronze and marble desk clock. In column form supported on an octagonal base, with bronze band decorations and two gilt masks in goddess form, surmounted by an affixed figural bronze sculpture of a fortune teller by sculptor Alfred Grévin (France, b. 1827 - d.1892). The bronze is signed to base and stamped with foundry number 5254. Clock movement is marked LEFEBVRE Et FILS, PARIS, 4301. Also stamped with Japy Freres cachet foundry mark. Overall height measures approx. 22.75" high (57.7cm). A similar bronze was found to be sold through Heritage Auction on June 21st, 2015 for $3800.
