Very Fine Vintage Rare Turkamon Rug with Flowery Design nearly 100 years old (Origin Afghanistan) Has intricate triple level pink & purple flower detail on edges ABOUT TURKAMAN RUGS ( located in northern Afghanistan and southern Turkmenistan ) The Turkamans (nomadic & pastoral tribesmen) are famous for their various depictions of "The Gul Flower" which represents the eight-sided medallion or elephant’s foot "The Bukhara" is seen in the field of these Turkaman rugs. The 23 Turkaman tribeseach have their own interpretation of this Gul flower design making the individual tribal rugs unique. This distinction is the identifier of where in particular the Turkaman carpet was woven. Buyer please be aware that the basic design has been copied in Pakistan for about thirty years. These mass produced rugs are the most common Oriental rugs found world wide.
