Description A George III mahogany chest of drawers
circa 1770, attributed to William Crawford
with a baize lined brushing slide above four graduated long drawers with lacquered-brass handles, on bracket feet
85cm. high, 95.4cm. wide, 55cm. deep.
Condition Report Repolished at the end of the 19th century with the wax evident in the grain. it is possible the top has been repolished more recently. Repaired break approx 6.5 top left front corner proper. The brushing slide is sticky and there are chips and some losses to the cockbeading. One brass liner to key hole lacking, Old marks chips and scratches consistent with age and use. The drawer linings are of oak.
