Description A finely-executed Japanese silver incense box and cover, Kogo

The heavy silver box of compressed globular form, densely modeled with chrysanthemum blossoms and leaves, matte interior, underside stamped 900 and with indistinct mark; Japanese wood box, cover inscribed Gensei, sho jiku kogo (small chrysanthemum kogo), interior of cover inscribed Tsusetsu saku.

NOTE: The dense and finely modeled blossom and leaves are very similar to those found on an inlaid silver koro and cover by Setsuho Hidetomo illustrated in Malcolm Fairley Ltd., "Japanese Works of Art, 29 October- 7 November 2009", no. 22
