Description Chodor torba, Turkmenistan, first half 19th century. An extremely rare version of the Chodor ertmen gul, this "pinwheel" motif displays crested bird heads inside the white and salmon color guls, to the left and right of the vertical axes. A small detail, but one which captures the attention of serious collectors. The perimeter is embellished by a dramatic box-flower border that uses not two, not four, leaves attached to the vertical stem, as in other examples in the Marsh Collection, but no less than six leaves in this embellished frame.
