Description Tekke chuval, 25-guls, Turkmenistan, first half 19th century. Over the last ten years of Leigh Marsh's collecting life, he added some major acquisitions, many of which were Tekke and included important examples of chuvals displaying highly decorated elems. This one has a distinguished provenance, being in the private collection of the late Jerry Thompson. It was exhibited at The Textile Museum during the notable conference of 1980 and published by Louise Mackie and Jon Thompson. The decorated elem shows a row of spectacular ashik variant blossoms with serrated leaves on vertical stems.
