Description Tekke chuval, ring-tree type with crenelated maida guls, Turkmenistan, early/mid-19th century. This is the second outstanding Tekke chuval in the Marsh Collection that displays maida guls in the field alongside the rare ring-tree motif in the elem along the bottom. Here we see 3 large octagonal medallions set into an "infinite-repeat" with truncated guls disappearing beneath the upper and lower borders. The ring-tree system in this example is beautifully preserved and adds elegance to the entire chuval. Size: 3'6'' x 2'8'' (107 x 81 cm). Weight: 3 lbs. Material: wool pile, wool warp, wool weft.
