Description Baluch group khorjin face, Northeast Persia, last quarter 19th century. DeWitt Mallary wrote in ATLANTIC COLLECTIONS that an item woven with this fineness and copious use of magenta silk were likely "signs of an object made for a special occasion." The field is a grid of well-drawn stars with a flatwoven row of small animals marching along the bottom. At the top is an elaborately decorated series of parallel bands which served as the closure system for this choice tribal specimen.
